For $8.00 what can you expect really. The parmy was actually better than what I expected with plenty of topping, the chips were good and the salad was good.

I hadn’t been to the Booma for a number of years so was keen to see what it was like after some reports of dodgy clientele in the past. The bistro area was neat and tidy with a few hottie staff members working and the usual die-hards in the front bar TAB. We pre-ordered our meals which were 30 seconds from our table when we walked in, timing! The meals looked huge! I ordered the special BBQ bacon chicken parmy. It consisted of the meat covered with a tangy BBQ sauce, plenty of bacon rashers and cheese. The parmy was quite a substantial slab of meat, a good size and thick (photo shows thickness and about a third already eaten – hey, I was starving!). The meat was tender in the middle but due to the slightly uneven thickness, a frag overcooked and dry towards the edges. The topping was very yummy but could have had more cheese – love the cheese! I sampled the traditional topping of the parmy my lovely female assistants had and found it also very tasty, though a tad too tomatoey with the sauce. The crumbing was consistent but seemed to have attachment issues, abandoning mother hen all too often when prodded. The chips were of the wider than they were thick style and nicely cooked, but could have had a few more. Again, some of the chips were screaming for air from under the meat (bigger plate or more creative positioning maybe – tough one). The salad was the best yet, with lots of the garden stuff, a light vinaigrette as well as a nice portion of pasta salad (bonus point for that!). The bistro was not busy for a lunch time (1pm anyway), which is surprising considering this filling, great tasting, great value meal. Yee haa grandma!

I went into the Boomer with no expectations and was very impressed. The dining area was extremely clean and tidy, the staff very friendly, and the meal was huge. There was plenty of chips - the proper kind, heaps of salad - the usual - lettuce, tomato, capsicum etc, as well as a tasty pasta salad. The parmy was on top of the chips which I dont usually like as it makes the chips soggy, but if it wasnt on top then we would need two plates to fit everything on!! The parmy was huge - both thick and wide, and so in some places it was a bit overcooked. It had lots of topping - a very nice tomato based sauce, plenty of fresh ham, and heaps of cheese - so much so that it was oozing over the sides. I recommend going without brekky when you try one of these parmys as you wont be able to finish it all or eat for the next 24hrs as you will be so full!!

I have to admit, I was a bit nervous about todays outing. Having never met anyone who had eaten there, I had no idea what to expect. But to my surprise, the recently renovated pub was quite inviting. There was a BBQ bacon parmi on the specials board, but I stuck with the traditional. The presentation was fantastic, the salad was great - bonus point for having a pasta salad, as well as your standard lettuce & tomato. The chips were good, although they were hidden underneath the parmi, but when the parmi is that big, its unavoidable. The topping was good, although the sauce was a bit overpowering, it did have good coverage of cheese and ham. I was a bit disappointed in the crumb, it was slightly soggy & falling off here and there. The chicken was of a very uneven thickness, and was a little dry, but on the upside, it was fresh chicken breast, and it was HUGE!
