Dissapointed, it makes is worse when your expecting so much more from your previous visits. Haven't been here since last snow season, the first thing we noticed was the warmth has gone, the atmosphere is no where near what it was last year. Then came the crap service, most disappointing. The parma was the same but not as good and none of us could work out why???? The meat was dry but a good size, the topping was off (well the meat toppings were) and the salad was wilted although the dressing was nice. Not Happy Jan.

This place tourtures me, it has gone from my all time favourite to the bottom of my list. The food isn't as good, the presentation has gone and the "spunk" of the place is no longer there. The service is now crap to boot. It used to be bloody brilliant accross the board but now it's lacking in all areas. Highly disappointing.

Ok now i've been here a few times now but never submitted a review but i'm wishing i had. The chicken breast was overly small, and everyone else on our table theirs were large? The crumb was soggy, not what it used to be and i'm thinking the oil was grotty as it tasted weird but none of us could pin point it, either that or there was something wrong with the topping. I had the traditional and all the boys had an outback. The chips weren't cooked properly so they didn't have that crunch. The salad was the best part of the meal to be honest. Service was crap, the guys was all over us then we couldn't find anyone? Hot and Cold. They have put a kids play area in the dining room and the kids going MENTAL drove us mad over lunch. The fire was nice though.

I'm still unimpressed with his place recently. Aside from the once faultless parma the venue has changed and no longer has that clean country feel and the service is all wrong on several levels, it's highly dissapointing. I know it's under new ownership and I can see changes but they are all wrong? The ambiance is gone. My colleague called it death by blackboard but it's more than that I feel. Now onto that once formidable bird! I can't help but wonder if the oil is different as the taste is weird, the size is good but it ends there, chips are plentiful but over cooked, salad dressing is too powerful although the contents are still the same but the toppings are not as fresh as they once were. In addition the beer which previously would rival any pub we've been to is a shadow of its former self, not sure if it's the beer or the glassware, either way it's now inferior.

Took yet another journey to Alexandra Saturday for lunch, a group of 4 of us (our third trip). It is worth noting that the hotel is UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. Our previous experiences have all been top notch however on this occasion it was nowhere near the place it used to be. It's still a nice venue on the outside however when we got in the appearance and feel has changed dramatically and not necessarily for the better. The service has gone from 110% to about 5%, in actual fact the service is now crap. We were not made to feel welcome, we couldn't get served a drink, we weren't greeted as we used to be and that's just for starters. Inside is now a large kids playpen and it has lost it's cleanliness. Eventually we were win a position to order and once again we had to wait to be served as the staff behind the bar were lecturing each other on how to use less power to save money (something of which we couldn't have given a rats) we just wanted a beer and a parma. Our parma came out at a very slow pace and we could tell immediately it was not the same, the presentation was lacking, the sauce we noticed first (i had a normal parma). It was really acidic and was lacking it's normal herby flavour. The chicken itself was not juicy like it used to be but ok in size. The chesse hardly covered the parma and was not cooked all the way through. Chips weren't crispy like we remembered. The salad was similar as was the dressing but that's where it ended. A really disappointing trip however after chatting with some locals as we walked up and down the street we were told that the management had changed and the kitchen staff were not being retained for very long which may be the main problem? Either way it's not as impressive as it used to be so were very happy we went in it's hay day.

Been here many times over the last 5 years and from the minute you walk in the door tip the minute you leave it's all great. This time it was all wrong? The room all of a sudden was dark not that crisp clean feel, there was a kids area inside the dining room and kids running amok while we were wanting to enjoy a peaceful weekend lunch. The service was lacking all round to be honest, the waitress had hair everywhere and some of it was on the bar :/ The meal took WAY too long to come out, the kitchen staff were dinging their come and get it bell and no one responded. Then came the parma's!! They were also not the same as they used to be - Highly disappointed and not sure if we'll return?

This year was terribly disspointing for us. The food across the board was only ok, the wait was shocking and the service was just plain non existent. The chicken itself was GREAT but that's where it ends. We are disappointed.

We travelled the couple of hours from Melb for this a few weeks ago and the place was CLOSED. We gave it the benefit of the doubt earlier on this week and came back. The chicken was fine in fact if was quite a good piece of chicken but that was where it ended. The crumb was not the best we've had, the napoli was bland and the cheese was not melted all the way through so it was only hot on the top. What should have been a good chip was spoiled by what taste to us like dirty oil or old oil possibly and there were not enough. The salad dressing smothered everything and was unpleasant and the service was too over the top she was trying way too hard and we felt that she was intrusive, the lady that looked after us did not have her hair tied back and some of it was on our table (this was the -1 point). We have read from a previous comment that this place is under new operators and we were sorry we didn't go there when it was at it's peak. A beautiful drive to get there and calling into the lolly shop and visitors information centre at Marysville was a real treat.

WELL WELL WELL i went to my FAVOURITE parma place in the state and have been bowled over. 35 of the 40 parmas have been removed leaving just 5 for starters, then I ordered the meat lovers. The topping was horrendous and I can't work out why????? The normally sensational chips taste weird and once again I have no idea why, then to top it off their sensational salad dressing has been replaced with something i am unfamiliar with :( This was a very disappointing experience, in fact I am gutted. I have taken a bonus point away for the plain awful service. I spoke to the Two very lovely people on the table next to me to find out that the place is UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. Oh Good Lord, Stop me NOW.

They lose a bonus point for the time spent waiting for the meal, but they win one back for the amazing range and another because they are willing to make their parmas gluten free. Overall very happy. Would highly recommend.

Apologies for the delay. Having devoured a Traditional a few minutes after the kitchen opened for lunch, I went for the Outback a few minutes before the kitchen closed. It comes with BBQ sauce, bacon, onion and cheese. A nice change from the norm. Hard to differentiate in terms of scoring, so I've marked it the same.

Took the road trip up to Alexandra for this glorious array of parma options and again left a happy customer. We opted for the Italian (Bolognese sauce) and the Outback Jack (BBQ sauce, bacon and onion rings) and they didn't disappoint. If anything the Italian lost a mark as the Bolognese wasn't quite "saucy" enough for our liking. The size was slightly smaller than the last one from memory, and while thick and juicy just didn't quite have the wingspan to really fill you up. Chips were quality bar the odd 1 or 2 which were oddly undercooked but thankfully there were an abundance of crispy cut spuds to go around. My only quarrel of the day was that the Parma took almost an hour to come out on a relatively quiet sitting, and whilst I didn't mark it down it certainly tested our patience. Salad ticked all the boxes and received full marks. Overall a quality parma and well worth the visit just for the variety of toppings (see bonus point).

Was an hour down the road so decided to stop in and find out what all the fuss was about. Ordered the traditional. Presented quite well. The cheese probably could have been a little moreelred though. The chips were excellent. A reasonable amount to compliment that Parma. The salad was good. Fresh, but nothing special at all. Now for the Parma... I was trying to come in without expectation, and as a random Parma is was quite ok. Meat was of a good quality. Size was good. Sauce was a little blan though, and probably could've melted the cheese more. The biggest downer was it was a bit soggy. The crumbling was great if you could find a bit that wasn't moist, but it disappointed me a little. It wasn't a BAD Parma. It was pretty good overall, but it's not even the best I've eaten this month, let alone ever.

Like many before me, I believed the Commercial Hotel was some sort of myth. How on earth could one pub have such a high rating?! So along with my trusted sidekick, we made the two-hour journey to Alexandra to find out what all the fuss was about. It was a chilly two degrees outside as we made our way through Healesville (home of the Beechworth Bakery, where we made a quick and tasty pit stop), the Black Spur and Buxton before arriving at our destination. Having made a pledge to eat two parmas before the kitchen closed (it's open 12pm-2pm), I started with the Traditional (there are 40 different parmas on the menu). It's hard to put my finger on what made this parma so good. The good folk at the Commercial didn't do anything different, special or out of the ordinary; they simply made sure every single bite was bloody delicious. In fact, each bite was better than the last. The chicken was thick, juicy and succulent, the salad nothing short of perfection, and the chips something to behold. It was well worth the journey and if you've got a day to kill and you like a good parma, I recommend you do the same. FWIW, I went with the Outback second up, which I'll review shortly.

So like many, I persused this fine website and noted this name at the top of the review list and wondered "Where is Alexandra anyway?" Oh. So, in the darkness I had many a parma, I had many around the 70% mark, ones that I thought were great which got about 60% by the valiant reviewers here, and the ol local special ones down the local pub for $10 on a Tuesday night. All good, because parma is parma, and parma is good. I know you like parma, cause you're reading this review on parma.com.au. One day I wondered, whats the difference between a 70% parma, and a 97% parma? Especially a 97% AVERAGE parma that 370 or so people have rated? I had to find out, and so the trek began, upon reaching the place, I ordered the Silly Sausage. I have no doubt that any of the 40 ones that were ordered would be any different in quality to the Silly Sausage. The parma itself was large. I skipped breakfast and I was thankful to do so, because the amount of food on the plate is enough to satisfy anyone who doesn't have serious health issues to begin with and should consider cutting down their food intake, if you know what I mean. The chicken was obviously good quality. No filler here, which was immediately obvious. The actual chicken breast is really extremely thick, so much so I was a little nonplussed about how they cooked it so it was completely well done, yet completely juicy given the thickness of the actual breast. The toppings on the silly sausage and the slightly nutty (my lovely ladyfriend ordered this) were of the quality they could have been their own stand-alone meal, but then I'd have to go sign up on a website to review that meal. So I'm glad they added it as part of the parma, or something. The quality and quantity of chips were also top notch. I really wanted to go there to fault them on something but I was really unable to - The salad was in the same catagory as well. All of them I would have left satisified if they were their own, seperate meals, there was definitely no slacking when it came to the sides. My girlfriend and I are no strangers to going on large trips to try supposedly excellent food, and she is extremely handy in the kitchen herself, but we were just seriously impressed by the entire thing. If you like parmas (which you do, you're on parma.com.au remember?) you should try this. There's a reason so many people have rated this so well. Anyone hating on this place is clearly not of sound mind.

I made the long trek to Alexandra to see how good these parmas really were. The menu has 40 different parma options to chose from. I settled for the Sunrise which had napoli, avacado, bacon & cheese. The meal was delivered and at first i thought it wasnt that big but then i checked its thickness and was double the size of a normal parma, the topping was very tasty, different to your normal parma and the chips were fantastic. Nice and big and very crispy, the salad was good too with a zesty dressing. My partner had the Spudarama which was cheese, mashed potato and drizzeled in gravy, this too was sensantional. I would definetily reccomend this pub to anyone.

First trip to Alexandra today and our first Parma at this venue. Chicken is free range, juicy and not flattened out so a nice thickness. The Napoli was devine and the cheese on top was plentiful and was very tasty. The chips were AWESOME, a beer battered chip we were informed and the salad was nice and fresh. Glad we made the journey and w'ell be back to try one of the other varieties soon. In addition the children were very well catered to and welcomed.

I do not rate this place in the slightest. After a 2-3 hour drive, and reading the hype here I was all set to have the parma of my dreams. Oh how quickly they were shattered... The parma was mediocre at best, there are so so many other parmas i've had that I would rate so much higher than this, that don't involve a 2-3 hour drive to be disappointed. If you're thinking of making the journey expecting the best parma you've ever had, I would strongly recommend against it.

As usual I gave an extra point for the huge range of parmas. This one was a spudarama - chicken parma topped with mash potato and gravy. Disappointing about the quantity of chips, about 1/5 of what I was given for my last parma there, perhaps this was because it was cheap parma night.

Truly is the bees knees of parmas. Outstanding quality chicken breast, crunchy chips with perfect amount of seasoning, and the choice of toppings likened to a kid in a candy store. I opted for two parmas as the temptation was just too much and went the mushroom Parma and the bruschetta Parma, both deliciously prepared. Others went for the meat lovers, original and nacho which all received glorious appraise. Still the Parma to beat and can't wait to go back!

Definetly not worthy of No.1. I had the meatlovers, lots of topping but the meat layered under the small amount of cheese was cold, like it was straight out of the fridge. I counted only 8 chips on my plate and the salad was so soaked in dressing I couldnt eat it. Just watch your bill too, we ordered other meals from the $10 specials board but were then charged the full price of $22, being told they weren't running that special tonight although it was clearly advertised on the bar.

After having read so many great reviews about this little place I finally made the windy (and sometimes steep, narrow and scary) 2 hour trip past the black spurr last weekend. Its a simple country pub with no frills and great service who truly pride themselves on their parma's. As I couldn't decide on which funky named topping combo to order, I decided to design my own, opting for a BBQ base topped with avocado slices, sun-dried tomatoes, fetta and lots of marvellous melted cheese, what I received was a masterpiece. Thick and super juicy chicken breast with a SIDE of undeniably the crunchiest chips I have ever had with a parma, and a lovely salad with dressing. Great, parma, great pub and a great little town!

Words nor photos just cannot describe this parma. After travelling 2 hours through windy mountains with a hangover the satisfaction after eating such fine cusine was worth every minute. The thick chicken breast was the juciest I have ever tasted, perfect realistic size, great topping. Flavoursome chips were kept far away from the chicken to ensure a crunchy result. Excellent salad mix included a small serve of pasta salad, which was unique and complimented the chicken well. Overall the best parma I have eaten by far and most definently worth the drive, I look forward to researching more of the 40 parmas they have to offer.

Found this place when in Alexandra for a bowling comp weekend. The first problem was deciding what to have as they have FORTY parmas on the menu. We all had something diffferent and tried them. They even let us have a beef parma which was great. The chicken was thick and the juiciest chicken we'd had. Toppings were fresh and the cheese on top was very nice. The chips were also fantatic. Even thought the chicken was not huge it was still thick and pure quality. Great experience all round and we'll be back for sure. The staff were also very friendly.

very dissapointed in this one ! Made the trek out to the sticks to try supposedly the best parma getting around, and must have got them on a bad day as our parmas where extreamly avarage at best. The red flags should have gone up when i saw mango and cheese in the same sentence let alone on a piece of chicken.we decided on the halloween and the mexican , the chicken was slighty dry, pumpkin had a funny tang to it that wasnt quiet right and the topping on the mexican was very very oily. there was allso the fact that our waiter had a slight B.O problem. One plus was the beer was cold. Much better parmas around the city. Save the petrol money!

I finally found the time to take a look at the offerings of the current 'champ' of Parma.com.au and was not disappointed. After a drive of more than an hour and a half I ordered a traditional parma (the right place to start, no gimmicks for a first timmer) from the bar at the Commercial. Forty minutes later a great looking parma arrived and I knew I was not going to be disappointed, despite the wait. Parma, Chips and Salad all crammed on one plate came close to 'crimes against chips' with the unfortunate saviour being that the quantity of chips was on the low side. The salad was nice enough but was drowned in a very potent balsamic dressing which was not all that pleasant. The parma however was totally awesome. The chicken was some of the most moist I have ever seen while the sauce could have been more flavoursome the overall taste experience was certainly worthy of the number one title. In saying this, so are a number of other venues I frequent. Overall a very very good parma and despite the distance travelled a worthy top three venue. I plan on going to the Commercial again to sample some of the offerings on the growing list of now 40 different flavour parmas.

We opted for the Karllisa & the bolognaise toppings (shared between two of us) and we were so impressed that we are already planning our next road trip's as we plan to try all 30 of the different toppings. The chicken was juicy and the crumbing was crunchy, there was plenty of topping that actually covered the whole parmy and the chips and salad were awesome as well.

I didn't have any issues with the salad, it was small but no one likes lots of salad. Worth a shot just don't expect to be blown away. Bonus points for the chocolate machine too.

The topping was VERY heavy which was great and I loved it, but the ingredients lacked a little quiality and all had that misc meat flavour about them.Chips were top notch, only problem with them is that there isn't enough! Salad was a little light on but still great. I can see why this place is so well liked. +1 for the Chocolate Factory machine which kept us entertained for far too long. I had heard so much about the parmas at the commercial hotel and how good they are, i decided that i simply had to try one myself. I had the sunrise parma, seeing that i had heard that it was the pub's most popular parma. perfect size of a freerange chicken parma nice and big. the salad to chip ratio was magnificent, and the parma itself went down such a treat i've been a repeat customer for months.

On our quest to find a GREAT parma we wound up here at the little town of Alexandra. We'd heard about the parma's here and we were not let down. We had a Trad and an outback and we then shared a Sunrise parma between us (Yep 1.5 parma's each) The chicken is thick, REAL and juicy and the toppings are amazing. We LOVE the chips and the veg was also fresh and hot. This was a bloody great parma and a very cool little pub to boot.

We now make a monthly trip here specifically for a parma. The sunrise with Avocado, bacon and semi dried tomato's is simply superb. I'm in agreeance with Scott on the juicy chicken and the chips are sensational, the salad is always very nice but yes the dressing is quite strong so we always ask for ours on the side. Freerange chicken certainly is the way to go with a parma the difference is amazing. I'm not sure about the oil component, we had a range of parmas as there was a big group of us so maybe it was in your topping? Anyway we love the parma's here and think they are some of the best around. Will be back next month.

Well I finally made the trip to Alexandra to see what makes the Commercial Hotel number one. As a hot food lover, I decided to go with 'One Hot Chook'. I was both surprised and disappointed with what I found. It's a great size parma, but not huge. The meat was just as juicy as people have said but I fear the reason for this with my parma was because it was swimming in oil, as you can see that very distinct shine in my pics. Which brings me to they key parrt of any parma, the topping. Too much bolognaise sauce, not enough cheese basically sums it up. As for chips, they were BRILLIANT, loved every moment of them, wish there was more, but it was still a generous serving. Salad had the right ingredients but someone was too heavy handed on the dressing which overpowered anything it touched. You might notice I haven't commented on how 'hot' it was, that is because apart from the chilli on top of the parma I would swear there was no chilli in this parma whatsoever. It wasn't just mild, it was non-existant. Go they make good parmas? Most certainly. Worthy of No 1? I don't think so.

It's always great! the choice is CRAZY and the quality of the chicken is sensational. It's a freerange breast that is not bashed out it is simply butterflied open. I have had bigger and smaller parma's here however with freerange that's what you get, I'm happy to sacrifice quantity for quality on my parma's anyday. It's a great "real' country pub with an open fire in the dining room, staff are very friendly and not in your face which is a nice change. Chips and veg were sensationally great with not too much seasoning to detract from the lovliness of the parma itself. I had the tandoreee this time around and it was gorgeous and almost faultless we also had the traditional and it rivals any traditional we've had anywhere. Great job here guys.

After this country pub keeps popping up everywhere we thought we'd use the school holidays to make the trip to check them out. Really really beautiful 75 minute drive from Caulfield and it was spectacular, then we found the pub very easily as it sits on the corner. Gorgeous OLD pub and when we got inside we were made to feel extrmely welcom and the open fire managed to thaw us out. We all had the traditional even though there were 30 different parma's to choose from and some of them were amazing. Well the Parma was nothing short of EXCELLENT. Freerange chicken, the crumb was amazing and the napoli was perfect. The cheese mix although they wouldnt tell us what it was was absoloutly perfect. This trip was well worth it and we will be back (this w/end) :)

Another amazing Parma from the Comm, maybe this is why I ask for jobs in the area so often (dont tell the boss). This time around I tried the nacho parma, it had bolonaise sauce, cheese with nacho chips and sour cream and a few jalapenos on it. Now as a traditional parma fan I rarely try the variations however this one and the Sunrise that I tried previously are heavenly. They are a great change and a real "pary in your mouth" I'm overly impressed with both of them. They do however still do one of the best trad parma's around without doubt. A new chef so I'm told however I'm pleased to report that the quality of the parmas has remained consistent. Chips and salad are always great here and now the cold weather has set in it's nice to sit in the dining room with the open fire going. I feel another country Vic job coming on LOL

The usual freerange chicken breast but it was topped with fresh avocardo, semi dried tomato's and bacon with the melted cheese. This thing is to die for, I know most of you die hards dont like the parma variations so much but this is amazing, certainly worth the try and I was unable to deduct points from anything on the plate this time around.

They were AMAZING, the chicken was thick, fresh and juicy and the crumb was devine, kind of a light herb and it was very complimentary to the chicken. The toppings were also AMAZING, there was heaps of topping and a gorgeous mix of cheese, not sure what type I just know it was delish. After all the hype as dedicated parma lovers we decided to make the 135km each way trek for what was meant to be the best.......... Shattered. Great thick chicken and tender and juicy but a severe lack of topping. We had the sunrise and the mexican and neither blew us away. On top of that the chips were undercooked and lukewarm, the parma was served on the chips and the salad meaning the dressing got into the chicken and overall very dissapointing. It wasn't even a busy night, only half full. Minus point for undercooked chips and the severe let down we suffered. Also minus for the 'Dehli Belly' we have both suffered since. If there is ever a next time maybe we'll get to see what everyone is talking about. Its a damn long way though.......

They presented a powerful parma menu, we tried the aussie, the meatlovers and the simple pleasure. The parma was perfectly cooked, nice thick piece of chicken wasn't the ordinary beaten up battered schnitzels you get from other places. It was tender, moist and well seasoned. The toppings were insane! Chips perfectly cooked and the salad complimented the dish well. Let me just say, if you like parmas do yourself a favour and check out the comm hotel. I have included a photo of 1 of the Aussie parmas another member of our table got (yes i know there’s no ham in the aussie) but as Peter Russel Clarke said “WHERES THE CHEESE?”. I realise people want to ‘defend’ their fav pub but in OUR experience the parmas where not of high standard.

Ok, not sure id we caught them on a bad day but,,, Shredded ham??? WTF. We had 3 diff parmas and they all had shredded ham and not enough cheese, aussie parma had onion that was not cooked properly. The saving grace was the chicken itself, top quality, not the biggest but fresh and juciy. Chips where nice and salad was dressed nice. Maybe theyve let the ratings get the punters in and droped there standards or have too many parmas on the menu so have made the switch to shredded ham but its just not on. Wasnt worth the 1 and half hour drive. Oh and if you want to advertise as the num 1 parma, dont make the number 1 mistake and put the parma on the chips, they should know better.

Was a first time experience at the commercial and was definitely worth the novelty of the day trip. I will be back to progress thru the menu no doubt. Rent a mini bus and con a designated driver and make a day of it. You won't regret it!

Good sized parma, not overly large but very thick and extremely juicy. Excellent topping and the cheese was a gorgeous golden brown. Freshness was paramount and they did not fail to deliver. We were all highly impressed and this place is highly recommended. The area was spectacular. Well worth the drive and we will return.

I can say with my hand on my heart we have NEVER had a bad parma or even an ordinary parma that particular hotel. We drive over an hour there and back they are so good. I fail to believe your comment however each to their own. As usual congratulations folk on your outstanding high quality consistency.

These are the best parmas any of us have ever had. its freerange and it's hot, fresh, filling and really just a bloody good parma, in fact it's the best parma and trust me - were good at pub grub. We have found to date that they are very consistent. The parma's a of the best quality, they are fresh and they are just plain bloody good. Well done once again to the Commercial Crew.

Juiciest, thick, beautifully crumbed fresh parma. we were highly impressed with this dish. Heard alot about it lately and we were not dissapointed. Chemical Free chicken is used so it's wasnt massive in size but it is faultless. worth the trip to this lovely little country town. started the meal with a garlic/mint bread and that was also SENSATIONAL. Congratulations to the staff at the Commercial Hotel.

Took our famiy to Alexandra after we noticed this hotel was their number one choice in Vic for Parma's. We knew very little about the town or the hotel/parma's before we arrived. We were very pleasantly suprised. The hotel was very very clean, the staff were very friendly and made us most welcome and they had a room for the kids to play in which was another high point. We all had parmas and everyone had a different type of parma. They were a perfect size for us, the vegies were truly amazing, even the kids ate their veg but nothing we better than the parma itself. It was juicy, think but not overly large in diameter and the toppings were fresh and hot. We will make this spot a regular monthly even from now on and it's nothing but parmas for us in this gorgeous little hotel. Congratulations to everyone involved. P.S If your going to take the hour long trip up make sure you go home via Marysville, the bakery and lolly shop are both open.

It gets our recommendation for sure and YES we will be back to try a few more. Great Job Guys

Will certainly get back when we can and try and work through their amazing parma list.

What a sensation this chicken is, we were advised on ordering and enquiring about the parma menu that it was freerange and you could tell - juicy and thick. Not overy large but it is chemical free so we were happy with that. Toppings were exceptional and we were happy with the cheese. Veg and salad were sensational and today they told us they had new chips, a lightly seasoned beer battered chip, larger than a fry but not a huge chip. They were hot and crispy and the batter was very pleasant, complimented the meal perfectly. Was very busy today and most meals coming out were Parmas which is always a good sign. Another trip back for us :)

In summary, the parma (hawaiian) was excellent. Unfortunately for these guys though, points are awarded for size and this is where the dish fell down. While the chicken breast was thick and juicy partly making up for the small size by an increased volume, but there was no saving the small number of chips served on the plate. The chips nice and crispy though, but needed lots of salt to get some flavour. Some of the best vegetables that I've had with a parma.

After reading about the Parma's on this site we decided to venture up to the Comm Hotel in Alexandra for lunch today. Only just over an hour from Greensborough, great drive through the bushfire affected area. Very old country pub with extremely friendly staff, they couldnt do enough for us without being in our face. The Parma menu was outstanding however we had a traditional and a Nacho parma. The size was good, not overly large but quite thick, the quality of the chicken was simply outstanding and the topping and cheese mix was also second to none. Just enough of everything. Chips were very hot and crispy and the salad was also very nice. We are both Parma Lovers and do order them often however we can say without doubt that this is currenly number one on our list. very very nice. Did a little trip through Marysville on the way home and bought dessert from the still standing bakery - great cakes. We strongly suggest everyone head up and try at least one of their Parmas (accom was available as well)

The staff were very friendly and the hotel is a typical country pub, very warm and friendly. There was an open fire in the dining room blazing which was also nice. I rate this parma as SIMPLY the best. Not overly huge but I guess the chook was not full of hormones !!! but it wa full of flavour.
