    One awesome feed, this parma is consistently good. Fat free range chook that is always juicy and succulent. toppings are as fresh as and the beer battered chips are great. Cant fault this one once again.

    Great, Great and Great. Only deduction was the parma was on most of the chips which looked fantastic but made chips a bit soggy. Other than that minor point it was a bloody awesome Parma.

    I had heard so much about the parmas at the commercial hotel and how good they are, i decided that i simply had to try one myself. I had the sunrise parma, seeing that i had heard that it was the pub's most popular parma. perfect size of a freerange chicken parma nice and big. the salad to chip ratio was magnificent, and the parma itself went down such a treat i've been a repeat customer for months.

    On our quest to find a GREAT parma we wound up here at the little town of Alexandra. We'd heard about the parma's here and we were not let down. We had a Trad and an outback and we then shared a Sunrise parma between us (Yep 1.5 parma's each) The chicken is thick, REAL and juicy and the toppings are amazing. We LOVE the chips and the veg was also fresh and hot. This was a bloody great parma and a very cool little pub to boot.

    One very thick and very juicy bit of chook. The crumb was delish without being overbaring, the toppings were simply sensational. This is one very very good Parma and YES we will be back. Love the loyalty reward card we were given as well. Oh one more thing, the best chips we've had with a parma anywhere. Well done.

    We now make a monthly trip here specifically for a parma. The sunrise with Avocado, bacon and semi dried tomato's is simply superb. I'm in agreeance with Scott on the juicy chicken and the chips are sensational, the salad is always very nice but yes the dressing is quite strong so we always ask for ours on the side. Freerange chicken certainly is the way to go with a parma the difference is amazing. I'm not sure about the oil component, we had a range of parmas as there was a big group of us so maybe it was in your topping? Anyway we love the parma's here and think they are some of the best around. Will be back next month.

    Well I finally made the trip to Alexandra to see what makes the Commercial Hotel number one. As a hot food lover, I decided to go with 'One Hot Chook'. I was both surprised and disappointed with what I found. It's a great size parma, but not huge. The meat was just as juicy as people have said but I fear the reason for this with my parma was because it was swimming in oil, as you can see that very distinct shine in my pics. Which brings me to they key parrt of any parma, the topping. Too much bolognaise sauce, not enough cheese basically sums it up. As for chips, they were BRILLIANT, loved every moment of them, wish there was more, but it was still a generous serving. Salad had the right ingredients but someone was too heavy handed on the dressing which overpowered anything it touched. You might notice I haven't commented on how 'hot' it was, that is because apart from the chilli on top of the parma I would swear there was no chilli in this parma whatsoever. It wasn't just mild, it was non-existant. Go they make good parmas? Most certainly. Worthy of No 1? I don't think so.

    It's always great! the choice is CRAZY and the quality of the chicken is sensational. It's a freerange breast that is not bashed out it is simply butterflied open. I have had bigger and smaller parma's here however with freerange that's what you get, I'm happy to sacrifice quantity for quality on my parma's anyday. It's a great "real' country pub with an open fire in the dining room, staff are very friendly and not in your face which is a nice change. Chips and veg were sensationally great with not too much seasoning to detract from the lovliness of the parma itself. I had the tandoreee this time around and it was gorgeous and almost faultless we also had the traditional and it rivals any traditional we've had anywhere. Great job here guys.

    Just had another fantastic parma at the Comm hotel. Consistency here is great, always hot and always a juicy breast. It's not overly large but it is freerange so the quality is amazing. I turned up last night unannounced and the place was chockers had to wait for a table so make sure you book. Still the one to beat.

    After this country pub keeps popping up everywhere we thought we'd use the school holidays to make the trip to check them out. Really really beautiful 75 minute drive from Caulfield and it was spectacular, then we found the pub very easily as it sits on the corner. Gorgeous OLD pub and when we got inside we were made to feel extrmely welcom and the open fire managed to thaw us out. We all had the traditional even though there were 30 different parma's to choose from and some of them were amazing. Well the Parma was nothing short of EXCELLENT. Freerange chicken, the crumb was amazing and the napoli was perfect. The cheese mix although they wouldnt tell us what it was was absoloutly perfect. This trip was well worth it and we will be back (this w/end) :)

    Another amazing Parma from the Comm, maybe this is why I ask for jobs in the area so often (dont tell the boss). This time around I tried the nacho parma, it had bolonaise sauce, cheese with nacho chips and sour cream and a few jalapenos on it. Now as a traditional parma fan I rarely try the variations however this one and the Sunrise that I tried previously are heavenly. They are a great change and a real "pary in your mouth" I'm overly impressed with both of them. They do however still do one of the best trad parma's around without doubt. A new chef so I'm told however I'm pleased to report that the quality of the parmas has remained consistent. Chips and salad are always great here and now the cold weather has set in it's nice to sit in the dining room with the open fire going. I feel another country Vic job coming on LOL

    Our normal Thursday trip to the Commercial in Alexandra for their $15 Pot and Parma day led met to head off the traditional and try the Sunrise Parma for once, IT'S A PARTY IN YOUR MOUTH people. The usual freerange chicken breast but it was topped with fresh avocardo, semi dried tomato's and bacon with the melted cheese. This thing is to die for, I know most of you die hards dont like the parma variations so much but this is amazing, certainly worth the try and I was unable to deduct points from anything on the plate this time around.

    Just loved this parma, stuck to the traditional which this cute old country hotel did to perfection, NO complains whatsoever it was perfect. My husband isnt much of a chicken fan so they did one for him on a beef snitzel which was MASSIVE and he just loved it. Well worth the drive it was amazing and we'll be back, next time we'll stay overnight and have a few if we can :)

    A bonus point from us because of the exceptional quality of the meat itself. All in all this was a sensational feed and we will be back. The parma was quality and it was hot and fresh, the chips and veg were also of a very high standard.

    I normally buy my Parma's from the Diamond Creek Hotel but through word of mouth heard about the commercial hotel in Alexandra we decided to check it out and it was the best Parma by FAR, loved it and will go back with other people to spread the word soon

    Myself and my four friends went here for luncht to try our the Commercial Hotel's Parma. We knew there were a lot to choose from but 30 of them caused confusion - which one to try so we got a different one each and shared them around. They were AMAZING, the chicken was thick, fresh and juicy and the crumb was devine, kind of a light herb and it was very complimentary to the chicken. The toppings were also AMAZING, there was heaps of topping and a gorgeous mix of cheese, not sure what type I just know it was delish. It was well worth the trip up to Alexandra and we will make it a once a month trip. The open fire roaring in the dining room created a gorgeous atmosphere. +

    Made the trip back to the Comm for another of their parmas. This time I tried the Obama Parma and it was sensational. The chicken is still the top notch quality and the topping was plentiful and delish. Still the one to beat, will se yall next month for my monthly trip to make my way through the parma menu. also at $15bucks for the pot and parma it's great value for such good quality.

    After all the hype as dedicated parma lovers we decided to make the 135km each way trek for what was meant to be the best.......... Shattered. Great thick chicken and tender and juicy but a severe lack of topping. We had the sunrise and the mexican and neither blew us away. On top of that the chips were undercooked and lukewarm, the parma was served on the chips and the salad meaning the dressing got into the chicken and overall very dissapointing. It wasn't even a busy night, only half full. Minus point for undercooked chips and the severe let down we suffered. Also minus for the 'Dehli Belly' we have both suffered since. If there is ever a next time maybe we'll get to see what everyone is talking about. Its a damn long way though.......

    STILL the one to beat, had another of the sensational Comm Hotel Parma's last night for their $15 pot and parma night and the standard is amazing and the choice is just sick (do we still use that word) anyway this is THE mother of all parmas in my opinion.

    good friday this was to be the day to find parma heaven we travelled 150 km's just to have a comm parma it was worth every kilometre that we travelled all the way from langwarrin for juicy breast , superb aussie topping great idea with fried egg ,the best chips ever, and one of the best salads ever ,i,m coming back every good friday for the next 29 years to try the rest great old country pub great service , well worth a day trip

    After reading the reviews on parma.com.au i had to go see what the Commercial Hotel was all about. The atmosphere was homely and the staff were very nice. They presented a powerful parma menu, we tried the aussie, the meatlovers and the simple pleasure. The parma was perfectly cooked, nice thick piece of chicken wasn't the ordinary beaten up battered schnitzels you get from other places. It was tender, moist and well seasoned. The toppings were insane! Chips perfectly cooked and the salad complimented the dish well. Let me just say, if you like parmas do yourself a favour and check out the comm hotel. We'll definitely be back to try all flavours

    Today we tested the no.1 and yes it was a good one ! even worth the 35 minute wait (but only just) The topping was the best I've had, but unfortunately the crumbs on the underneath were soggy :( hence the - 1 point. Great value on a Thursday at $15 with a pot and a great old pub.... Well worth the trip on a Thursday evening :)

    Oh My GOd, went here over the weekend, however the Parma's were so GREAT and there were so many of them we went Twice. Our camping food was bought home. None of us could fault the parmas they were big, moist and very fresh. Chips and veg were the best ever. We cant wait to come back in June.

    Yet another EXCEPTIONAL parma from this place. I have been several times now and It is consistent which is a bonus. The chicken is juicy and thick and the toppings are devine. $15 pot and parma tonight and the place was chockers and with good reason. I'll be back....

    Both hubby and I had the Italian Parma, it was superb. Cheese was golden brown and covered the topping beautifully and the veg were the best I've had in a long time. Great Pub and Great staff were both highly impressed, and we highly recommend this place.

    I was there on the weekend visiting from Tassie, I had an out back. It had BBQ sce, bacon and cheese and it was sensational? loads of topping and heaps of cheese which was cooked very well, nice and golden on top. My husband had a tropical, it was a creamy coconut curry with mango through it with a swiss chees on it, it too was gorgeous. We were both very very happy and have no complaint whatsoever. It was on top of a few chips but there didnt seem to be any room on the plate to avoid that? Well two extrememly happy customers here. Thank you.

    While i understand many have had great experiences, this is a website to post personal experiences and i do not appreciate being told what was on my parma. I had the meat lovers which includes ham, EVERYTHING on my parma was shredded, so either: so was my ham, or my ham was nonexistent. I have included a photo of 1 of the Aussie parmas another member of our table got (yes i know there’s no ham in the aussie) but as Peter Russel Clarke said “WHERES THE CHEESE?”. I realise people want to ‘defend’ their fav pub but in OUR experience the parmas where not of high standard.

    I am a regular at the Commercial Hotel, every Thursday for the pot and parma night in fact and I have been for several years. The schredded ham is in fact schredded bacon that is cut on site. I have NEVER experienced shredded ham on any parma, they do however have shaved ham on the traditional and maybe some others but not shredded. Maybe they saw you coming?

    Ok, not sure id we caught them on a bad day but,,, Shredded ham??? WTF. We had 3 diff parmas and they all had shredded ham and not enough cheese, aussie parma had onion that was not cooked properly. The saving grace was the chicken itself, top quality, not the biggest but fresh and juciy. Chips where nice and salad was dressed nice. Maybe theyve let the ratings get the punters in and droped there standards or have too many parmas on the menu so have made the switch to shredded ham but its just not on. Wasnt worth the 1 and half hour drive. Oh and if you want to advertise as the num 1 parma, dont make the number 1 mistake and put the parma on the chips, they should know better.

    Went their for picnic races which was cancelled due to rain. all day meals so we had 3 parma's on sat then 4 on sunday :) Parma'd out now but worth every bite.     Every holiday our kids beg us to come to this pub for another parma. We now have 9 ticked off on our parma rewards card they gave us. once again all our parmas were SENSATIONAL. Heaps of choice and they are always as good as the last. We are yet to be dissapointed. Looking forward to easter :)

    30 different parmas to choose from and this weekend I had 5 of them. each and every one was consistent and bloody good. Juicy freerange chicken, very fresh toppings, hot and lightly spiced chips. Good salad and the veg were bloody great for once. All round faultless. Congratulations to the team at this good ole country pub, bloody good job.

    As first timers at the Commercial Hotel for one of their famous pamas we have been blown away. The Parma was everything we'd read about and more. Everyone should head into this great country pub and have at least one of their parmas. Two very happy campers here. Congratulations

    Went for sumthing different and had the sunrise Parma, avacado was fresh and chicken was thick. Cannot fault the topping but myself I would have liked a bit of punch. Was a first time experience at the commercial and was definitely worth the novelty of the day trip. I will be back to progress thru the menu no doubt. Rent a mini bus and con a designated driver and make a day of it. You won't regret it!

    Great chicken parma, not the most massive in size but certainly the best in quality. Thickness is great and the chicken is freerange which you can tell in the moistness. Had a brilliant lunch today, the chips and veg were very very good and the parma itself other than the overall size was faultless.

    My sisters and I went to this pub to try their parmas from Tullamarine. Saw the spread in the herald sun. We were highly impressed that the chicken was freerange to begin with. Good sized parma, not overly large but very thick and extremely juicy. Excellent topping and the cheese was a gorgeous golden brown. Freshness was paramount and they did not fail to deliver. We were all highly impressed and this place is highly recommended. The area was spectacular. Well worth the drive and we will return.

    Nearly halfway through the menu and haven't had a bad one yet! Beer is ice cold, atmosphere is fantastic, bar staff friendly and helpful ,location ideal. Only problem is, they have added more to the menu so I am still not halfway through! A simple gimmick done extraordinarily well without going overboard. Fantastic effort by the crew at the Commercial Hotel!

    After reading a previous comment about the banana parma i felt it necessary to comment myself. My family and I make several trips a month to the Comm Hotel for their parmas, we all have one of their parma loyalty cards and are happily working our way through them. I can say with my hand on my heart we have NEVER had a bad parma or even an ordinary parma that particular hotel. We drive over an hour there and back they are so good. I fail to believe your comment however each to their own. As usual congratulations folk on your outstanding high quality consistency.

    Made yet another trip to this parma hotspot. They are consistent, once again my entire family tried yet another of their parmas. Freerange, crumbed on site and 24 varieties to choose from. As per normal they were bloody GREAT. We were all highly impressed with the quality. We were also informed that as of next week the list goes to THIRTY different parma. Give this one a crack guys, it's not number one for nothing. Were sold !!!

    Made my 2nd trip to the place they call "parma heaven" in country Vic. I'm pleased to say that the parmas were better than the first time we went, these guys dont appear to be resting on their laurels and have made an effort to improve all aspects of their parma. This time around it was faultless, the venue had been flooded out but they are doing a great job of getting back up and running. Food was great but it should be noted that the staff were excellent. Great experience overall for this parmaluva.

    Whilst staying at Lake Eildon this last week we discovered the Parma List at the Commercial hOtel in Alexandra. We had also heard about it on 3aw so the stomach called - over 20 different parmas on their menu so we all had a different one (traditional for me) I'm a traditionalist. These babies were SOoooo good we went back 3 times that week, the fourth was totally booked out so they gave us a take away. These are the best parmas any of us have ever had. its freerange and it's hot, fresh, filling and really just a bloody good parma, in fact it's the best parma and trust me - were good at pub grub. Do yourseves a favour and get one of these into ya. We will be back over Aust Day long w/end for more, yep were working through the list its our new years resoloution. CONGRATULATIONS to all involved at the Commercial Hotel in Alex.

    listened to the plug on 3aw about this place which last week was unfortuanly flooded out not 12 months after the fires hit their doorstep. Pub is great although limited seating due to flood damage, there was not shortage of people in the bar and dining room and the majority of them were having a parma. Ours were AWESOME to put it in one word. Fresh not a big parma but thick and juicy, we were informed that it was freerange and you can certainly tell. toppings were soemthing else - absoloutly sensational. Do yourself a favour and go to this pub and try one of their params, the locals call it Parma Heaven and we now know why. Will be back and hopefully SOON

    Best feed we've had EVER. Parmas were fantastic, in fact everything on the menu was great. Have driven past this one over the years but never called in until now. Pub is lovely, typical old country pub, the staff were very friendly and the food (particuarly the parmas) were top notch.

    Made another stop at the Commercial Hotel in Alexandra on our way to Eildon water skiing. We have discovered that they are consistent which is a bonus. The chicken is thick, and very juicy and the toppings are plentiful and fresh. Great cheese mix on top and the chips and salad are also plentiful and fresh. Will be back again, probably tomorrow on our way home ;)

    Our Cricket Club did a bus tour to this hotel to try out their parma's. they knew we were coming so they did a $15 pot and parma deal for us which was grouse. The parmas were bloody amazing. Heaps of food on the plate and for once the veg were great. good chips (beer battered ones) and the chicken was the juciest I've tasted. The toppings were also exceptional. Will be back over the xmas period guys, congratulations on great chow.

    thereis no mistaking this parma is "greatness" we were told when ordering that it is chemical free chook so not overly large but quite thick. we were happy for someone to finally put quality over quantity in the parma arena. well that said it was amazing, and YES we'll be bak for more. the beer is cold and sensational in its own right in this country pub. got a room and stayed the night, might even have another one for lunch before we head home.

    Took our famiy to Alexandra after we noticed this hotel was their number one choice in Vic for Parma's. We knew very little about the town or the hotel/parma's before we arrived. We were very pleasantly suprised. The hotel was very very clean, the staff were very friendly and made us most welcome and they had a room for the kids to play in which was another high point. We all had parmas and everyone had a different type of parma. They were a perfect size for us, the vegies were truly amazing, even the kids ate their veg but nothing we better than the parma itself. It was juicy, think but not overly large in diameter and the toppings were fresh and hot. We will make this spot a regular monthly even from now on and it's nothing but parmas for us in this gorgeous little hotel. Congratulations to everyone involved. P.S If your going to take the hour long trip up make sure you go home via Marysville, the bakery and lolly shop are both open.

    This place was listed as number on in the herald sun recently and we just found out why. Fantastic parma, not overly large in the parma stakes but it is a chemical free parma. It was thick and very very juicy, enjoyed our parma so much we didnt take too mcuh notice of anything else on the plate. There was however a decent amount of food. It gets our recommendation for sure and YES we will be back to try a few more. Great Job Guys

    This time around I had the Commercial Parma, it came with a napoli, cheese and prawns on top. Great chips, kinda beer battered and light and the best vegies I've had in a long time. Give it a crap people.... 10 out of 10 from the Ricksta

    GREAT chicken, juicy and perfectly crumbed. Was just the right size for me, I had a tropical it was a creamy mango, coconut and curry parma with a swiss type cheese melted on top. It was sensational. My partner tried the traditional beef parma which was on the specials board, it was MASSIVE and fantastic. Will certainly get back when we can and try and work through their amazing parma list.

    Fan bloody tastic parma. Great old pub with a very cool feel, dining room was pumping and the parma's were flowing. Shit loads of different parmas as with last time we called in it was a great experience. Will be back soon, congrats to Crita and the Commy Crew on their fanstastic parma menu and the un-beatable quality.

    Very Very nice meat, alot of choice in topping. Veg and chips were very hot, fresh and tasty. Nothing really we could fault. Worth the trip just for the parma but they also had the Yummiest home made Jaffa Cheesecake to finish off. Coffee was also exceptional.

    what a great experience, the bananarama parma had a fantastic combination of taste & texture, the chips were perfectly seasoned & the salad was delicious. in my opinion the commercial hotel alexandra has the best parmas in australia

    What a sensation this chicken is, we were advised on ordering and enquiring about the parma menu that it was freerange and you could tell - juicy and thick. Not overy large but it is chemical free so we were happy with that. Toppings were exceptional and we were happy with the cheese. Veg and salad were sensational and today they told us they had new chips, a lightly seasoned beer battered chip, larger than a fry but not a huge chip. They were hot and crispy and the batter was very pleasant, complimented the meal perfectly. Was very busy today and most meals coming out were Parmas which is always a good sign. Another trip back for us :)

    One of the juciest chicken parma's I've ever had, I chose the mushroom sauce topping (a.k.a. "The Fun Guy"). The chips let down the parma, a bit of seasoning would've gone a long way.

    In summary, the parma (hawaiian) was excellent. Unfortunately for these guys though, points are awarded for size and this is where the dish fell down. While the chicken breast was thick and juicy partly making up for the small size by an increased volume, but there was no saving the small number of chips served on the plate. The chips nice and crispy though, but needed lots of salt to get some flavour. Some of the best vegetables that I've had with a parma.

    Came up to this pub on Thurs night for the $15 buck pot n parma deal. These babies were so good we stayed overnight and had another one for lunch yesterday. Staff and owners were fantastic, venue was extremely clean and the food was sensational. Not one complaint even the vegies were good. chips were beer battered, hot and crunchy. Sensational job guys

    Took the drive from Sommerville (once again) to have another go at these pieces of artwork. Was well worth the trip and they are consistent. They have added another 2 since we were there last so they now have 24 to choose from. You just cant go past the Nacho parma to be honest. GOOD PARMAS

    $15 pot and parma night at what we can only call "Parma Heaven" 24 on the menu 6 of us chose a different parma each and they simply melt in your mouth. The chicken in juicy, thick and has the most gorgeous crumbing and the toppins were just YUMMY... Best parmas' any of us have ever had and we do like our food ;) Cannot wait to go back, and the staff were really nice to us and really really friendly and the owners came out and spoke to us as well, that dont happen in the city let me tell you - Great food and a great bunch of people.

    made my 2nd trip to the Commercial in Alexandra to try another one of their parma's. discovered they are consistent. Great staff, relaxed atmosphere, this time we all had the tropical kindof a mango, coconut curry sce with a swiss cheese topping. It was nothing short of SEN......SATIONAL very very good parmas.

    Went to this hotel as he saw them on the Today Show as they have a choice of over 20 Parmas. Thur nite is $15 pot and parma night. The parma was thick and sooo juicy and the toppings were to die for. this is the best parma we have had so we will be back and will endeavour to work our way through the parma menu :) If you havent tried these ones you have no idea what your missing. YUMMY (was also a nice trip up there, and we stayed the night as well)

    After reading about the Parma's on this site we decided to venture up to the Comm Hotel in Alexandra for lunch today. Only just over an hour from Greensborough, great drive through the bushfire affected area. Very old country pub with extremely friendly staff, they couldnt do enough for us without being in our face. The Parma menu was outstanding however we had a traditional and a Nacho parma. The size was good, not overly large but quite thick, the quality of the chicken was simply outstanding and the topping and cheese mix was also second to none. Just enough of everything. Chips were very hot and crispy and the salad was also very nice. We are both Parma Lovers and do order them often however we can say without doubt that this is currenly number one on our list. very very nice. Did a little trip through Marysville on the way home and bought dessert from the still standing bakery - great cakes. We strongly suggest everyone head up and try at least one of their Parmas (accom was available as well)

    The chicken on these parmas was sensational, we were told it was free range and you certainly could tell. I had the meatlovers parma with a very generous selection of ham, kabana, salami, bacon amonst other toppings and it was the best parma without a doubt I have ever had. The staff were very friendly and the hotel is a typical country pub, very warm and friendly. There was an open fire in the dining room blazing which was also nice. I rate this parma as SIMPLY the best. Not overly huge but I guess the chook was not full of hormones !!! but it wa full of flavour.

    Even though the size wasn't competitive with other parmas the taste was a sensation. It had the right chicken to toppin ratio and the napolitana sauce was excellent. I had the traditional parma but the hotel also has 19 other parmas on the menu.
