  I had high expectations going to the Ovens pub as it had rave reviews. Unfortunatly it didnt really live up to the hype. The meal was quite small for the price allthough it did taste really good. The staff were very friendly and the pub was a really nice country pub.

  Took the journey to Ovens to see what all the fuss was about, and honestly, I don't know what everyone is on about! It was a decent parmi, but not the best I've tasted. The house made sauce had a taste of cloves that I was not too sure about-it was more of a chutney than a napoli. The chicken was a thick, real breast, and was cooked well, so it wasn't dry. Chips were ok, salad was ok, so all in all, ok but not fantastic.

  I heard of some favourable dining experiences down at the HV, so it was off to see if I could have one myself. The parmy was of average size for its price but the meat was reasonably thick and tender with a good crumbing cover. The home made tomato topping was very yummy, much more flavoursome than the ones you usually get out of a jar off the supermarket shelf. The ham slice was standard and the lightly grilled cheese was tasty but a little more would be more satisfying. The chips were well cooked and crunchy but there could have been a few more of them. Most of the chips were placed to the side of the parmy (yay!), but there were some stragglers under the meat. The salad was pretty standard with all the usual ingredients but did have some troublesome long lengths of boring sprouts. The dressing was nice but a little lacking. The pub had lots of character, a great beer garden and extremely pleasant staff. A great but not outstanding parmy experience..

  one minus point for coming out cold. Big in size doesnt mean a good parma. This one I had a few weeks ago now and it was average. Sorry but I will be back as it's attracting interest.

  Just OK all round, not bad but not great. Ok chicken although not thick and juicy enough, cheese was rubbery, chips and salad were ok. No bells ringing for me on this one.
