Another visit to Mrs Parma's. I opted for the "parmageddon" which isn't for the faint-hearted! Delicious spicy topping, good quality chicken, cheese browned to perfection. Bonus point for serving the chips and salad in separate bowls so as to avoid soggy chip syndrome, Definitely check this place out if you're in Melbourne but be warned - you may have to book.

after a 3yr reviewing hiatus, BIG D IS BACK!!! intention of these evening was to goto the carron tavern on spencer street to support a mates 'sponsor' although the bums were closed at 5pm on a saturday evening?! wtf? many angry punters wanting to smash a froffie but no dice! craving a parma and nothing else it was off to the obvious contender, mrs parmas. I'm always up for trying something different so I opted for the chalk board special of a "kasoundi" parma which was an indian inspired parma. the usual scenario here that everyone whinges about and mrs parmas never act upon and that is the lack of chips! the parma itself was nice, I quite enjoyed the indian spices, the chicken was a little flat / coles-esque, not quite resembling a legit in-house flattened out breast. NOW for the bullshit part of this visit - when you order drinks / food here you can set up a tab in which they ask for your credit card. upon leaving you would think along with your bill you'd be handed your credit card also? I wasn't, and forgot all about the lil plastic bastard until the following day... upon calling mrs parmas they claim they cannot send it back out to me?! wtf? just stick it in the post ya cunce! not hard... so basically you jerks can tongue me spuds - bad customer service! sure I forgot to ask for my card, but it should have been handed back to me with my bill anyway...

Great range of parmas available. I had the Floater - mashed potato, mashed peas and gravy. While very tasty, the chicken itself was way too thin and a bit of a letdown. The chips (and chicken salt) are great, but you have to share with the rest of your table and there's simply not enough to go around. I would have awarded a bonus point for the fantastic range of beers, but the lack of chips left a bad taste in my mouth (metaphorically, not literally).

Although a little thin, the parmas here are great with a number of toppings to cater to all tastes. The shared chips and salad is a bit rough, so I'd be more likely to attend solo or hatch a plan to order separately and then join mates, which I'm sure the wait staff would love. Bonus points for good old fashioned chicken salt on the chips and absolutely outstanding range of local beers.

Parma was a nice size with great topping, not hot nuf for our liking but we like hot food. Chips and salad where nice but could have been bigger. All vic microbrew beers too

This place just rocks. I have been many times and will continue to go. They have studied the art of Parmolgy. Although they choose to serve/make thin Parma's, there reasoning for this is fair enough. Perfectly/evenly cooked. Seperate bowl of Chips and seperate bowl of salad. once again, an art. Victorian brewed beers only as well. Love this place.

Had the BBQ parma with BBQ sauce and onion rings topping. Parma was a good size and not too thin, cheese was a little burnt on top but I like it that way. Chips were in a separate bowl that me and the 2 other shared but there were plenty and I liked having them in a bowl so they didn't get soggy. All of us agreed they did a very good parma and I'd definitely go back to try a different topping and some more of the excellent range of Victorian beers.

For a venue with this name it falls far short of expectation. Parma was big but very thin, rather over cooked and although they've gone for the wow factor in seving up only the parma on a plate with the chips and salad in seperate bowls, my dining companion and I were only given one bowl of chips and one bowl of salad to share, where as other diners on adjoining tables each had their own chips and salad. At $23 one should have to share. One point deducted for the name not delivering on expectation. Keen to head back to see if they can prove me wrong.

With a name like Mrs Parma's you think that they'd be GREAT, but it was just ok. I went for the traditional one but after having the Bolognese (Better) Bruschetta (Better again), then the Mexican (Best) I think the rating might be a little low. The chicken was a little thin, I think it'd been flattened out to fill the plate :( and it was just a little dry. The chips and salad to share was different, but I guess it's a good thing so that food doesn't go to waste. Anyway, to sum it up I've had a lot better for a lot less....

After hearing all the ranting and raving I decided to go try out Mrs Parmas a couple nights ago. Was it a good parma? Yes. Was it incredible? I'm afraid not. The chicken was a pretty average schnitzel, thin and tough like the pre-made supermarket kind. The topping selection was good, as was the chips and salad, atmosphere etc. But this is far from Melbourne's greatest parma. Still worth a look though.

MRS PARMA - the extra point just for the name! Firstly what a venue! It felt like you were in a old pizza hut with 90's decor and 90's top 10 songs in the background. I would also reward another point for the great selections of micro brewery beers and ciders-excellent touch! Now to business, the parmas are large! They're perfectly balanced in flavour and seasoning. The cheese is perfect and the toppings are insane. There are about 12 different toppings that you can choose from and there's also a special for the day. I had the BBQ - comes with BBQ sauce and rashers of bacon and home made onion rings. MAGIC! the chips and the salad come in separate bowls to share. The main focus of your plate is just Parma. if you're in the city and near china town, go for a walk towards spring street and pop in. overall great parma! The other picture inserted is the special for that day "the pizza parma" i had a bit of it, tasted exactly like a calabrese pizza!

Considering the high expectations for a dedicated parma restaurant I was very disappointed in the parma itself. It had been flattened out to fit the plate but was was too thin. The herbed breadcrumbs were tasty but the topping was drowned in cheese. The chips and salad were in separate bowls, impressive, but one medium size bowl was to share between four! The chips however were amazing but the salad was soaked in oil for a dressing. I guess bonus credit for the creative parmas that were offered on the menu. But overall for the price and reputation I expected a little better.

First up, the parma. No doubt, it was huge taking up most of the plate. Unfortunately though, it was quite disappointing. The chicken was aweful and the topping wasn't much better. I sent a bit of time reading the article in their window about how the pub was founded which undoubted set some high expectations. Sadly, these quickly came crashing down hard. For the chips, there's really only one word to describe them - sensational. Their drawback though is their convoluted system whereby you get a single bowl of chips for the table. Upon finishing the bowl, you can order another bowl at no charge. (If you want to get your next bowl before you finish the first one, then you'll be charged.) This would be fine if the second (or third, forth, etc) bowl came out straight away, but you've got to wait until they're cooked first. The undoing of the system is that by the second bowl arrived, I'd already finished my parma. Sure I'm a fast eater, but I think it's an example of where common sense needs to prevail.

firstly, this is an old review - I'm trying to catch up on all my past parmas I have photos of. with that said, this parma is probably not available now as it was actually a XMAS TURKEY PARMA, not chicken.
I rate this parma 100% as it was amazing!! the mixture of cranberry sauce, melted cheese and gravy made me jizz my pants!
what was more satisfying was the size of this parma, it left me fulfilled and stoked with what I had just eaten!
this venue gets mixed reviews, but you have to give them props for seperating chips from the parma etc, because so far no where else I have been does this!
always super friendly staff, and helpfull in terms of recommending a good beer while you smash down a rad parma!

I went for the Aussie parma last night. This parma was a bit like Lara Bingle; the size of the chicken breast was excellent, although perhaps a touch thin but you'd still hit that and an improvement on the past. This parma was well dressed and had a bit of attitude (can't go wrong with bacon, egg and beetroot). At one point, I remember yelling out "Chips, were the bloody hell are ya?" this is why I deducted a bonus point as it took forever to get chips. Overall a pleasant experience!

Another round at Mrs Parmas, but a little different this time. Everyone agreed that the thickness of the parma has improved, bumping it up to an Excellent size. I went for another Parma'geddon, but this time they served my extra chilli on the side and charged me $1 for it, a bit disappointing but none the less, a fantastic parma. The let downs this time was just in the salad, which tasted terrible and left a bad layer of oil in my mouth. We also got let down in service, we had to constantly ask for chips but it took a few hours before we had really had our fill. Lucky for them they have awesome beers and a great range of parma!

Top marks for the spicy and delicious "salami parma" (mozzarella, napoli sauce and crispy sausage standing in for ham). Chips downrated slightly as my dining companion was of the view that they had an odd, slightly sweet, taste. Chips and salad served in separate bowls to avoid sogginess.

I opted for the Orignial Parma, I went with Scott and Trebek. The parma was a good size, but it was a bit too thin. The topping was alright, not enough sauce imo, the cheese was overcooked for my liking almost boarded on burnt. Chips are unlimited which is great but we had one batch which were not quite cooked properly. Salad was a highlight, and it was unlimited as well. I always feel they could do their parma's a bit better... much like Lindsay Lohan's choice of movie role. Bonus points for the variety of beers on top.

The one reason I love this place is for the 'Parma-geddon' (previously known as the Inferno). I love hot food and they do it well, I keep challenging them to make it hotter, this one wasn't as hot as last I had it, but I digress. The size is great, but sadly too thin. Just a tad more thickness would see this getting full marks. I'll give the topping 5/5 when they can make it hot enough :-). The chips didn't excite me this time as they felt undercooked perhaps due to their very thick cut. Quantity as always is not an issue due to their unlimited nature. The salad was very enjoyed by everyone on the table, Not something people often comment on. Bonus point for variety, having gluten/egg free options and some of the greatest beers I've ever had on tap.

The extra point is for the unlimited chips and salad. If ANYONE reviews this place with "they didn't put out enough chips etc" please note, just tell them you want more. Their free and unlimited :D The parma was perfectly cooked and the toppings were beautiful. I had the BBQ Parma which is a mighty good choice! Chips were slightly undercooked but still tasted great. Chicken wasn't dry or oily and the cheese and bacon were awesome. The best place for parma's for sure.

this was to be my birthday dinner - I was smashed already and psyched for this meal!!
the parma was massive, I think 2 cut up to make one? however seemed abit thin. I got the aussie and I think for the size of it perhaps 2 eggs on top would have been good because it just left the other half vacant and lacking!
I did as other reviewers had said and requested extra chips, because otherwise I think it comes out in a pissy bowl like the salad!
chips were good and so too was salad.. as others have said for the name of the restaraunt you would expect better, even still I was satisfied somewhat and it filled me up nicely.
I did try the beer that was on their latest email out hoping that being smashed already I might like it because usually I hate beer! it was ok... not great but I got through it!

Have to say if you call yourself 'Mrs Parma's' one would expect one of the best Parma's ever. Not the case at Mrs Parma's. You are served a lonely piece of very thin and over flattened piece of meat with chips to share in a bowl! However I enjoyed their selection of boutique hand crafted Victorian beers.

For a place that specializes in Parmas, it leaves alot to be desired. A small bowl of chips was provided for 2 people. I now know you can get more chips if you ask, but it should be offered otherwise how would i know this? The parma itself was average at best and nothing to write home about. If you're looking for a good quality, satisfying parma, go somewhere else.

Parma smaller than should be for the money, quality on par with most other good pubs. Annoyingly, they brought out one bowl each of salad and chips between 5 people? Mid way though the meal when asked why the chips are brought out in this annoying way, the waitress replied "well we can't fit them on the plates....not much we can really do about it", in a very rude way! I was quite annoyed by this. She also took our salad and a few drinks which weren''t finished quickly without asking. Furthermore, we were charged 80 cents for a tiny little bowl of sauce! Yeah, thanks. I don't think I'll be going back for the food...good, but service really lacking on this night, and wait until you get the $10.50 choc mousse! It's about half a yogo! Enjoy!

The parma was very large and the chips were fantastic. I loved them so much I am going back on Friday for more.

For $22 this parma wasn't good enough. If you're gonna pay over the odds then you should get a knock-your-socks-off parma, not a run-of-the-mill one. Nothing special, unlike the chips, which were very good and kept coming (as long as you asked for me). Negative bonus point was for charging $0.80 for a small bowl of tomato sauce for the chips. Won't be going back unless someone else is paying...

Bonus point removed as you have to 'ask' for more chips. You're invariably given a pretty minimal serve amongst a few of you. They're very accommodating with the chips however. More than $20 is just too much for a Parma though unless it's out of this world. These are good, but not 'that' good.
