Bloody hell, what a great Parma! Went down on Thursday night and the place was packed! With good reason too! The Parma came out and it was the size of the plate, I just got the regular Parma but there were like 8 i think to choose from. The chips were really good but probably not enough and salad looked small but nice.

Back in the day, these parma's were absolutely ridiculous in size which would make you question what percentage was actually chicken & more to the point; what was making up the difference. In more recent years, the dog has had a major face lift & so has the menu. Although it has been some time since going there, I can still taste that napoli around my fat gob!

The plate was covered with a foot long chicken fillet. Huge, with the thickness not comprimised. Topping was nice, however could have done with a little more sauce. Chips and salad quantity was a little light on, but needed to be to compensate for the dinosaur bird that was presented. -1 bonus point is for the expensive price tag.

Date of consumption: 11 September 2010. Whoa, what a big parma. This was a pretty good parma for the price too. The size of the parma was huge. I’d happily give it a 5 no worries. The chicken breast was pretty thick too, no complains here. It was juicy in bits, but dry in other bits. Overall I can’t complain. The breadcrumbs were pretty good too, it was herby. The topping got the maximum rating, despite being a bit lacking in the amount of sauce. However, the cheese was pretty yummy, so perhaps more sauce would have detracted from the taste. They were very generous with the smoked ham too, it was yummy! Chips and salad were served in separate bowls on the plate, this deserved a bonus point. The chips were of good quality and salted lightly. Not much complaints here except that the serving portion could be improved. Likewise with the salad – simple but very fresh and well presented. The salad ingredients were lettuce, red onion, and grape tomatoes. Kudos to the management/chef for including the chips and salad in a separate bowl each to keep the parma from getting soggy. THANK YOU! Overall, despite the high price, it was still value for money. I would wholeheartedly recommend this parma to anybody!

Long time between parmas at the skinny dog and had heard of the "change of guard" so we were keen to see if the parma had survived the transition, thankfully it had. Upon arrival we immediately noticed the change clean new ex and interior, menu and staff but now to the point the parma. size- thumbs up sauce (has improved)- as above ham (double smoked)- x2 as above sides (coleslaw & fries)- as above garnish (green stuff on top) what is it????? Not the old dog we loved but now a more sophisticated K9 and the fancier approach to the parma might just catch on.

This place used to be a Kew institution. Wife and I went here weekly and sometimes twice weekly for years to get our parma fix. Parmas were so big we always had to have the split parma option. Then earloy this yeat the hotel changed management. The new idiots have tried (in vain) to turn the Skinny Dog into a gastro pub - and the results are disasterous. Service has gone to hell, ambience and atmosphere have gone to hell and the parma's....don't ask. I shall wait until I see a big fat "UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT" sign on the window before my wife and I ever return. The new owners simply do not "get it". I do not wish bad upon anybody, but I cannot see these guys surviving after what the crimes they have committed against the once most loyal clientele in teh parma world. Tick, tock, tick, tock...I can hear the bomb ticking...

After waiting an hour (on a sunday with 2 people in the place) the food came out cold. The parma was pressed meat, the topping uninspiring and lacked any kind of flavour. The salad consisted of a side bowl of lettuce leaves, no onion and some kind of tastless dressing. I live just around the corner from the skinny dog and i'll not eat there again! The steak had by my partner also came out cold and under cooked.

Made our way down to kew after reading reviews on here .. must say we were overall pleased with it but certainly not the best I've had. It was fairly large in size ... but must admit was expecting it to be larger after reading the reviews on here...would definitely be the largest I've had but not by much! Meat was very nice and tender - cooked perfectly. The topping looked delicious but wasn't a winner for me ... couldn't really taste the sauce. The salad was average and small - same goes for the chips. As mentioned overall satisfied but have had better!

We were served a broken glass of water not knowing this until the end of our time at Skinny dog. The manager was very rude and didn't do much about this. Good taste but we walked out with a bad taste in our mouths :( i.e the minus point!

Despite trying other parmas in various pubs around Melbourne, this one remains consistently very good. The price has crept up over the years and the quantity of chips (and salad) has gone down (chips cleverly put in a small spiffy bowl instead of forming a thick but delicious soggy bed beneath the monster parma), but the parma itself is still big, thick, juicy and very tasty. In over 10 years of trying the SD parma I have never had one with burnt or dry edges as found in other pubs. I have introduced mates to it with success. The price of about $23 includes the added-cost ham, which is a new extra. The venue is a Xav-friendly, which is a bonus.

Size is not everything. Sometime ago I would have raved about this parma and it is bloody good. Biggest selling point is the size and the venue but the parma is just to big and the quality is not up to the size. And what is with ham being an extra?? Something not right there. I'd go back with freinds to be social but the hunt for the ultimate Parma continues.

The Parma was well sized but I have seen bigger and expected to see a bit more Parma for the high price tag. The chicken was the real deal and was moist & tasty, the toppings were ample and of the highest quality. I asked for ham on it but didn't get very much so couldn't really taste it. The chips were served as a side and not under the parma which was great, however they were served in a very small bowl which meant very few chips. More chips are required! The salad would have been quite ordinary and boring had it not been for the zingy dressing it was doused in. In all a great Parma, it just needs to be a bit bigger and have many more chips or a reduction in the price.

Chips were a nice cut and well cooked, we went for a side of gravy which went down well, I could have done with more chips, however with the size of the parma, I didnt need it. Lack of ham was a shock, however you can order it, or bacon which could be interesting. Please note, I am a big eater and this is a large meal so split it if you have a smaller belly!

The chicken quality great and size more than enough - but topping bland and lacking anything worth reporting. Not going back.

Well, it has to be the biggest Parma I have ever had! I have eaten at the dog before but only ever attempted a half size. I truely rolled out of the hotel after the meal and a few decently priced beers with a big grin on my face! Last time I ate there, the chips were served on the plate(usually under the parma as there was no room!), but now they are in a side bowl which is so much better as they stay nice and crispy.

After reading the reviews we hit up the Skinny Dog last night and left with mixed feelings...Venue is nice. Service is great. Parma was lacking. Firstly 2 parmas were ordered on the table and there was a gross inconsistancy in size. (We both ordered full size and confirmed this with staff) 1 parma was around 25% bigger than the other. Not complaining too much as if i had recieved the bigger one there's no way i would have finished it anyway! they're massive! Secondly - to my great disappoinment there was no ham! cardinal sin! Thirdly - Parma was served on top of chips. Chips were then soggy and somehow managed to get salad dressing all over them. There wasn't heaps f chips either - although in saying that the parma definately made up for the lack of chips. It was a sensational piece of chicken - meat was perfect. Topping was a little short on mine also unfortunately. Salad was great - complimented the parma well. Prehaps we got them on a bad day? On the whole a pleasent experience. Worth returning to in the hope of recieving a holy grail parma which i have heard they can produce from time to time.

Biggest Parma I have seen for quite a while, and the quality of the chicken was fantastic as well. Topping was nice and without ham, which was good, and the salad also complimented the meal nicely and was well presented. The atmosphere was also really coumfy, and the service was nice and pretty speedy. However, the letdown here was the chips, which were pretty cold when they arrived, hence the -1. Whilst there was a sizeable amount of them, they tasted fairly standard, and nothing mindblowing. Having said that, it's definitely one of the biggest parmas around, so if you are willing to make the trip to Kew and have a big stomach, it's well worth it. The price is a tad steep, but for the size of the parma it's good value. Also, if you have one of those entertainment books, Skinny Dog has a voucher in there.. so take that along and you'll only pay half price (if your partner/mate gets one as well!)

Probably the largest parma you'll ever come across. It spans the entire width of the plate and then some. Is of really good thickness also which makes this a great parma. Topping is a bit lacking though, with not as much cheese as one would hope. All in all one of the best in Melbourne.

PLANNET PARMA This Parma is not only massive but also properly prepared. Some places like to put cheese and tomatoe paste on a schnitzel and call it a parma. But these guys do a proper fresh (not processed crap) chicken fillet and add sufficent quality toppings. Not rated well by that other param site going around but then again they arent going any longer. Do yourself a favour and check this place out.

Nice venue and nice meal. Pretty good overall. Make sure you go there with an appetite though as it's like eating 5 big macs. In fact there is an option on the menu to have the parma split in half to share it between 2 people which is probably a good idea if you're not a huge eater as this one will tax the stomach.
