Very nice parma, advertised as West melb's best parma, having not had any other west melb parmas id have to agree. Topping was good, cheese was alittle runny and moved around on the parma. Chips where the best ive tasted, crunchy and nice inside. A seprate bowl for the salad which was big and tasty, not much dressing. Overall a nice parma.

Date of consumption: 13 September 2010. When the parma came out, it looked promising. A bite into the chip confirmed what I had come here for... the thick chips were the crunchiest chips I have had in my 30 odd parmas. Adding to it, the seasoning was pretty good too. The parma itself covered a fair bit of real estate on the plate, which was a good thing, however, the chicken breast was a bit thin in places. You could tell that the chicken breast was pretty good quality though, no shortcuts or cheap cuts here. The sauce was good, thick, and tomatoey. The cheese was yummy and good quality too! Unfortunately, the crunch factor in this parma wasn't there - a little bit soggy in places, and the breast could be a little more juicy. I'm nitpicking here though (only reserved for parmas that I rate highly). The serving of chips could be improved. Doubled, perhaps! What is it with pubs and being stingy on the chips? It's only a small outlay, but it'll keep your customers happy. Think about it please, its money worthwhile spent! The salad was fresh, and with dressing. It was pretty decent but nothing earth shattering. Thanks to the chef for serving the salad in a bowl and ensuring that my parma didn't get soggy. Once again, a parma worth trying, if only for the chips. Despite the small serving of chips, the quality was enough to give this dish a bonus point. The cheese used in the topping was pretty good quality too. Overall... if the chef could increase portion size... this would be a pretty decent parma, and right up there!

    Parmaman reckons:

While slightly pricey ($22) I really enjoyed this parma. Size wise it was perfect in every regard; in terms of the actual chicken fillet, but also the salad and chips quantity was excellent. While it was a beautiful chicken fillet, crumbed really well; the real highlight was the ham and cheese coverage, slightly baked on and perfectly covering the fillet which is a pet hate of mine. The highlight was the sauce, it was napolitan however it had a tomato paste edge to it which made it pizzarish which added an extra element to the palate. The cheese was a nice mix of motza and cheddar which provided an excellent tang. If the oil was newer the chips would have improved dramatically. However an excellent meal, great portion, fantastic sauce all culminating together to deliver a truly excellent meal. I had it with a pint of Hargreaves Hill ESB which was a really 'meatey' and filling beer which complimented the meal perfectly.

Overall, very decent. The chips are a bit fang-dangle - skin-on hand cut potatoes.

On the menu it's referred to as West Melbourne's best parma. Well I'm not too sure there are many other parmas available in West Melb so really not that big a call. But having said that, this is one of THE tastiest parmas I've had in a long time, plus excellent table service, it made for a very enjoyable evening.

This parma looked a masterpiece, but the quality of the chicken was not that great.
