Well, well, well, how good was this? Parmy was perfectly sized, tender and the right thickness. The topping was spread evenly over the surface though it was a tad oily (avoidable? maybe not). The sauce was ok, but it wouln't hurt to spice it up with something. Whats with the extra cost for the ham topping though? Shouldn't it be standard?? The straight cut chips were very tasty, perfectly cooked, not soggy via drowning under the meat but could have been a frag more. The salad was served on the same plate as the parmy/chips, consisting of a couple of halved cherry tomatoes, rocket, capsicum, cucumber, spanish onion, a tangy mayo based dressing but with a few too many troublesome lengths of sprouts. Presentation on the suitably sized plate was good as you would expect. The venue was clean with excellent, attentive service staff. A delightful visit, highly reccommended.

I hadn’t been to the Booma for a number of years so was keen to see what it was like after some reports of dodgy clientele in the past. The bistro area was neat and tidy with a few hottie staff members working and the usual die-hards in the front bar TAB. We pre-ordered our meals which were 30 seconds from our table when we walked in, timing! The meals looked huge! I ordered the special BBQ bacon chicken parmy. It consisted of the meat covered with a tangy BBQ sauce, plenty of bacon rashers and cheese. The parmy was quite a substantial slab of meat, a good size and thick (photo shows thickness and about a third already eaten – hey, I was starving!). The meat was tender in the middle but due to the slightly uneven thickness, a frag overcooked and dry towards the edges. The topping was very yummy but could have had more cheese – love the cheese! I sampled the traditional topping of the parmy my lovely female assistants had and found it also very tasty, though a tad too tomatoey with the sauce. The crumbing was consistent but seemed to have attachment issues, abandoning mother hen all too often when prodded. The chips were of the wider than they were thick style and nicely cooked, but could have had a few more. Again, some of the chips were screaming for air from under the meat (bigger plate or more creative positioning maybe – tough one). The salad was the best yet, with lots of the garden stuff, a light vinaigrette as well as a nice portion of pasta salad (bonus point for that!). The bistro was not busy for a lunch time (1pm anyway), which is surprising considering this filling, great tasting, great value meal. Yee haa grandma!

I’m no longer a Cafe Victor virgin, and what a satisfying way to lose my innocence! The parmy was medium in size and a little thin throughout but was part of an awesome package. One of the edges of the parmy was a little over exposed and hence charred under the griller but that didn’t deter from the flavoursome chicken taste. The topping of tomato/chopped onion over the ham slice with what seemed like a mix of melted cheeses (more cheese, more cheese, more cheese, more cheese.....(more beer tune)) had a unique yet very yummy zing. The chips were sublime! There were plenty of them, they were cooked to a perfectly crunchy and golden finish and had a subtle seasoning. No crime against chips here. The salad was standard and joyously had easily palatable sized pieces. The vinaigrette dressing was zesty. A bonus point for the complimentary and gorgeous tiramisu dessert, though I wonder whether the waiter was trying to impress my equally impressive dining partners....! The venues Italian setting was quaint and the friendly staff (we actually only saw one), was great. A fantastic parmy experience.
