This parma we were DYING to get to try and for no reason whatsoever. It was dry, overcooked (in fact burnt) and the amount of chips and salad was a rip off. The toilets were in poor repair and stunk. We will Never wait that long for a parma again.

Dissapointed, it makes is worse when your expecting so much more from your previous visits. Haven't been here since last snow season, the first thing we noticed was the warmth has gone, the atmosphere is no where near what it was last year. Then came the crap service, most disappointing. The parma was the same but not as good and none of us could work out why???? The meat was dry but a good size, the topping was off (well the meat toppings were) and the salad was wilted although the dressing was nice. Not Happy Jan.

This place tourtures me, it has gone from my all time favourite to the bottom of my list. The food isn't as good, the presentation has gone and the "spunk" of the place is no longer there. The service is now crap to boot. It used to be bloody brilliant accross the board but now it's lacking in all areas. Highly disappointing.

Ok now i've been here a few times now but never submitted a review but i'm wishing i had. The chicken breast was overly small, and everyone else on our table theirs were large? The crumb was soggy, not what it used to be and i'm thinking the oil was grotty as it tasted weird but none of us could pin point it, either that or there was something wrong with the topping. I had the traditional and all the boys had an outback. The chips weren't cooked properly so they didn't have that crunch. The salad was the best part of the meal to be honest. Service was crap, the guys was all over us then we couldn't find anyone? Hot and Cold. They have put a kids play area in the dining room and the kids going MENTAL drove us mad over lunch. The fire was nice though.

I'm still unimpressed with his place recently. Aside from the once faultless parma the venue has changed and no longer has that clean country feel and the service is all wrong on several levels, it's highly dissapointing. I know it's under new ownership and I can see changes but they are all wrong? The ambiance is gone. My colleague called it death by blackboard but it's more than that I feel. Now onto that once formidable bird! I can't help but wonder if the oil is different as the taste is weird, the size is good but it ends there, chips are plentiful but over cooked, salad dressing is too powerful although the contents are still the same but the toppings are not as fresh as they once were. In addition the beer which previously would rival any pub we've been to is a shadow of its former self, not sure if it's the beer or the glassware, either way it's now inferior.

Took yet another journey to Alexandra Saturday for lunch, a group of 4 of us (our third trip). It is worth noting that the hotel is UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. Our previous experiences have all been top notch however on this occasion it was nowhere near the place it used to be. It's still a nice venue on the outside however when we got in the appearance and feel has changed dramatically and not necessarily for the better. The service has gone from 110% to about 5%, in actual fact the service is now crap. We were not made to feel welcome, we couldn't get served a drink, we weren't greeted as we used to be and that's just for starters. Inside is now a large kids playpen and it has lost it's cleanliness. Eventually we were win a position to order and once again we had to wait to be served as the staff behind the bar were lecturing each other on how to use less power to save money (something of which we couldn't have given a rats) we just wanted a beer and a parma. Our parma came out at a very slow pace and we could tell immediately it was not the same, the presentation was lacking, the sauce we noticed first (i had a normal parma). It was really acidic and was lacking it's normal herby flavour. The chicken itself was not juicy like it used to be but ok in size. The chesse hardly covered the parma and was not cooked all the way through. Chips weren't crispy like we remembered. The salad was similar as was the dressing but that's where it ended. A really disappointing trip however after chatting with some locals as we walked up and down the street we were told that the management had changed and the kitchen staff were not being retained for very long which may be the main problem? Either way it's not as impressive as it used to be so were very happy we went in it's hay day.

went to this pub on wednesday, the parma was great, we got greated and seated promptly, the chef even popped out and told us a joke or two, exactly what you would expect form a country pub, extra point for the jolly chef... we will be back. :)

Dropped in for lunch yesterday, Parmas is not as good as it used to be. Chips were not cooked enough and the salad was wilted we had to sift through it. Minus point given for the rude lady that served us.

I didn't know how to rate this or what to write as I cant pin point what has changed? Been here many times over the last 5 years and from the minute you walk in the door tip the minute you leave it's all great. This time it was all wrong? The room all of a sudden was dark not that crisp clean feel, there was a kids area inside the dining room and kids running amok while we were wanting to enjoy a peaceful weekend lunch. The service was lacking all round to be honest, the waitress had hair everywhere and some of it was on the bar :/ The meal took WAY too long to come out, the kitchen staff were dinging their come and get it bell and no one responded. Then came the parma's!! They were also not the same as they used to be - Highly disappointed and not sure if we'll return?

Our annual trip to eildon always comes with a visit to the Commercial Hotel. It has been one of our annual highlights during our trip, there is always a large table of us. This year was terribly disspointing for us. The food across the board was only ok, the wait was shocking and the service was just plain non existent. The chicken itself was GREAT but that's where it ends. We are disappointed.

Excellent moist thick chicken breast, well cooked. Great topping - though not traditional. Good chips and though not masses, more than enough given the size of the meat. Fresh salad with lovely dressing. Relaxed country service. Bonus point for best cheesecake in ages for dessert.

We travelled the couple of hours from Melb for this a few weeks ago and the place was CLOSED. We gave it the benefit of the doubt earlier on this week and came back. The chicken was fine in fact if was quite a good piece of chicken but that was where it ended. The crumb was not the best we've had, the napoli was bland and the cheese was not melted all the way through so it was only hot on the top. What should have been a good chip was spoiled by what taste to us like dirty oil or old oil possibly and there were not enough. The salad dressing smothered everything and was unpleasant and the service was too over the top she was trying way too hard and we felt that she was intrusive, the lady that looked after us did not have her hair tied back and some of it was on our table (this was the -1 point). We have read from a previous comment that this place is under new operators and we were sorry we didn't go there when it was at it's peak. A beautiful drive to get there and calling into the lolly shop and visitors information centre at Marysville was a real treat.

WELL WELL WELL i went to my FAVOURITE parma place in the state and have been bowled over. 35 of the 40 parmas have been removed leaving just 5 for starters, then I ordered the meat lovers. The topping was horrendous and I can't work out why????? The normally sensational chips taste weird and once again I have no idea why, then to top it off their sensational salad dressing has been replaced with something i am unfamiliar with :( This was a very disappointing experience, in fact I am gutted. I have taken a bonus point away for the plain awful service. I spoke to the Two very lovely people on the table next to me to find out that the place is UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. Oh Good Lord, Stop me NOW.

It was with much anticipation I made the trip to Alexandra. The Parma was excellent. Great thickness. Tender and juice with good tasty toppings. The chips... Struggled! Unsalted/seasoned and maybe a little short on quantity. Salad was good... As far the the 'Parma' bit goes.. You will struggle to find better chicken.
