Craving a Monday lunch parma, I consulted the trusted Happiest Hour website in search of something cheap and cheerful in the CBD. I'm pleased to report the Duke of Kent delivered with a $15 parma and pot special that was delicious and filling. I liked everything about this place (hence the bonus point), from the TAB, to the pot glasses, to the dozen or so TVs for sport, to the salad, which even my trusted sidekick, who never eats his salad, polished off without a trace. As I write this review I can still taste the shredded ham and napoli sauce, and I mean that in a good way. For $15 (albeit Mondays only) I dare say this is the best value in town.

I only wish the plate was bigger. Bonus point for the bread roll and tomato sauce. Monday special with a pot of beer. Only complaint is that the chicken was not one piece but 2 or 3 held together with the topping.

I'd seen reviews for this place on this site for years but never ended up going until a mate gave it his seal of approval. For $15 with a pot I'd say it is one of the better parmas you will get in the city (on a Monday). Every aspect of the parma is well done and if I was in the city on another day I'd happily pay the standard price. I gave it an extra point for coming with a bread roll (and butter) and a packet of tomato sauce.

I have big raps for the Duke but Ive noticed it starting to slip, and last Wednesday i went there for their $12 parmas of the world. Personally i skip the experimental parmas as i prefer the tradition parma over any other variation. The parma arrived within about 3 minutes of ordering, this to me is a sign that the parma has been sitting in the kitchen for some time. The parma was tiny, so small it left me questioning the real value of the meal, and had i paid more then $12 i would have been pissed. Chip rule no 3 was again broken (the Duke is famous for breaking this rule) with the parma being placed over the chips, and unfortunately i wasnt quick enough to save them. Secondly the chips were so over cooked to the point of almost not being able to be eaten. The salad was just sad, some fancy lettuce and Spanish onion soaked in balsamic, really they shouldn't have even bothered. The chicken was very dry but the high point was the topping, still pretty tasty and grilled really well. All in all it was truly disappointing and i dont think i will be hurrying back. One point deducted for what was a very forgettable experience, and the barman overcharged me by $5 for a beer.

Duke of Kent! Awesome venue, better Parma. Went on the world of Parma night being wednesdays. Big Juicy chicken, good ham, lots of cheese....fresh hot chips which is pretty rare these days and a good side salad Been here a few times and has not let us down, the standard price is $15 so great value anytime really..

Im a big fan of the parmas from the Duke and I usually dont venture past the traditional, but this one caught my eye on the 'Parmas of the Wrold' menu. I opted for the 'Columbian' which instead of ham has spicy beef, and that was were the trouble started. First of all my meal arrived within 5 minutes of ordering it, not a good sign as this leaves me believing my parma was pre cooked. The presentation looked good, a good size bit of chook, and a generous amount of spicy beef on top, but the parma came out served on top of the chips, which in my rapid attempt to save the chips still managed to make a few soggy to the point of unediability. But the 2 main problems with this meal was the parma was deep fried and the spicy beef tasted like it came from a can (stagg chilli style). All in all i still ate it and i will keep going back to the Duke but wont be straying beyond a traditional parma. One point deduction for deep frying the parma.

Great parma in a great pub. Excellent choice of parma toppings for the Wednesday night special of which the choices are changed weekly, although you cant beat a traditional parma. ps is it just me or has anyone else noticed more and more pubs are serving their parmas minus the ham, an important ingredient in a parma, as without its just cheese on chicken.

Really solid parma, great amount of cheese, juicy chicken, top sauce, nice amount of chips and a really great salad that complimented the meal well. For $15 with a pot it was excellent. For a little extra we got a pint of Squire Golden Ale which they have on tap which made for an excellent combo. Looking forward to another Duke Parma.

This parma is awesome, great size and great quality. No crimes commited in accordance with the Parma rules sent to us by god himself. Certainly up there with the best and deservingly of it's spot on the list. Will gladly be back, staff were genuine and happy which made it nice and the venue itself was very inviting.

A very solid contributor. While not as showy as some of its parma counterparts, the Wednesday night "parmas of the world" special is very good. Been a few times and have never left feeling I haven't been nourished, and that is half the battle. Bonus point for the bread roll and butter.

Amongst the hustle and bustle of the city lies this little gem of an establishment. The parmas of the world evening did not dissapoint with an additional bread roll which was highly appreciated. Definitely likely to become a regular on the parma rotation roster, nicely done.

As a fan of parmas with your more exotic toppings, I was very impressed with what the Duke of Kent had to offer. On Wed they offer Parmas of the world, with the Mexican a definite highlight. For the price and quality this place is very hard to beat. Bonus point has been given for the complementary bread role w/ butter. You really don't see that enough any more.
