Service; great. Recent renovation has not effected Parma quality. Deserves current #1 spot. Gets very very very very good marks in all categories but none of it blows you away for an honours degree. Except for size. It's HUGE! Apt Quote: When in doubt, bat. If still in doubt, bat and head for an Imperial Parma.

"Hey Allan, come to the pub and watch footy." "Will there be parma?" "Of course, this is Melbourne you idiot." And with that inauspicious beginning, a new benchmark was set. The footy was on multiple screens, they had my favourite beer on tap, and just behind the bar was a little sign telling us that they had "Melbourne's best parma 2014". Those judges last year were not wrong. The cheese had that nice brown peaks that marks a perfect grilling. The chips and salad were in separate bowls on the side of the plate. And the plate, that took up half of our bench, was covered in the biggest crumbed slice of heaven I have ever laid my eyes on. The chicken was thick yet still moist. The ham was smokey and the sauce had just the perfect tomato zing. As more friends showed up, more parmas were ordered and although hardly anyone could finish theirs, no one was unsatisfied. Next time I'm in Melbourne I'm making a beeline right here and throwing my money at the bewildered bar staff.

Went here last night with two mates, one of whom was here from the country on business and had a hankering for a Parma. I jumped on this website and checked out some good places and we ended up choosing The Imperial as I had initially suggested as I am a Liverpool fan. We had a few beers while we caught up and then proceeded to order food, each of us getting a Parma. The food arrived not too long after we ordered and it was excellent, the cheese was delicious, nicely melted with the perfect amount applied (mix of mozzarella and something else?). The napolitana sauce was good, wasn't caked on and was nice and subtle. The ham was thinly sliced, delicate and tasty. The meat was tender and juicy and was crumbed to perfection with a few crunchy edges (my favourite part of a Parma). Luckily I was starving as it was a rather big Parma and I absolutely smashed it. Top points for the crunchy beer-battered chips and a bonus point for the chips served on the side. The amount of chips was a little disappointing but we ordered an extra bowl of chips for the three of us and that worked out well. Even the salad was good, it had nice Parmesan cheese and dressing and it worked well with the Parma. I only rated the salad as good because let's face it, you don't win friends with salad. I've had a terrible run with Parmas lately and this one has well and truly made up for the flops.

Had lunch here with colleagues yesterday and it is the best parma i've had so far. Nothing on the plate disspointed at all, in fact it was faultless.

Hands down the best parma I've ever eaten. I've had it a few times now and I've never been able to finish it. This parma is the ultimate! In quality and quantity. The chips are amazing, the gravy (ordered on the side) is super tasty. The only criticism I have is that we need more gravy for the size of the parma. Highly recommend!

An exceptional parma with a lightly herbed napoli. A thin layer of ham which covered the entire parma and a delicious mix of cheeses to top it off. Mash and veg were brilliant, we also asked for a bowl of chips on the side, they were lightly seasoned, hot and crunchy. We want for nothing more on a parma.

Having been to the Imperial more than a few times as a Liverpool fan, I was keen to see what the kitchen had to offer on a regular night. Interestingly, the good folk at Parma Daze rated this the best parma in Melbourne, so I was a tad excited to say the least. Now, the speed and service. Wow. Within five minutes of ordering, I had devoured my first mouthful. Superb. But as for the parma itself, the chicken was way too thin for my liking. Sure, it looked great on that spectacular rectangle plate, but it was as thin as a pancake in some parts. I don't know about you, but I like a thick, juicy bird. It's a shame really, because the toppings were spot on. As were the chips, although there's never enough. And the salad looked good but was as dry as a nun's nasty to be completely honest. For 25 bucks I guess I expected better...

Two in two weeks from this fine establishment. The parma here is faultless, big, thick juicy breast, tasty Napoli, good spread of cheese and ham make this an A Grade parma. The chips are hot and crispy, nestled in a separate bowl to maintain their profile and the salad, while stock standard, complements the dish well. Only minor qualm was the quantity of chips but in all honesty you don't need them with the size of this bird. Seriously needs to be higher on the list and appreciated by more parma lovers out there!

Smashing Parma! Clearly one of the best in the business. The breast was absolutely faultless, delicious topping, chips were crispy and golden and salad, with a sprinkling of shaved Parmesan ticked all the boxes. Bonus points for the sheer size and quality and the separation of chips, parma and salad. The perfect pre-footy parma.

Footy season is upon us and what better way to open up before a game with a Parma! If this Parma was a footy player it'd be Cyril Rioli, and as Bruce would describe it, Delicious! The size of a Sherrin footy, this thick and juicy bird ticked all the boxes with a crusty outer crumb, tasty Napoli and superb coverage of perfectly grilled cheese. To accompany this A grade chook we were greeted with delightfully crispy chips and your typical side salad. A lack of chips probably the only warranted deduction of points though I'd struggle to fit any more in anyway... Bonus point for ham and the shavings of Parmesan on the salad. After my first visit Im very much looking forward to my next pre game Imperial parma!

Very nice chicken, tasty sauce. Seperate chips and salad was fantastic. Main criticisms would be too much was left uncovered by sauce, and the crumbing was a bit too thick. For the size of it though? Pretty damn good value.

All three elements were pretty fantastic and neatly served with two side bowls for the chips and salad. Great quality and size of chicken with a good balance of toppings. Their current Monday special of buy one parma, get $5 of the second one is a bit of joke though.

The Imperial Parma at the Imperial Hotel is definitely not for the light hearted! It's huge! The schnitzel isn't thin like most "large" parma's. Comes with a great sauce and ham underneath the cheese. Fantastic. Best parma I've had.
