A trip to the country (well, further out in the country anyway), was in order last weekend, and the venue was one of the most traditional, old style pubs I’ve visited in a while, with free stale odours. The breast was reasonably sized, reasonably thick, well cooked and not dry. The crumbing was ok, not burnt anywhere, but the topping was the let down. The special bolognaise topping was barely detectable. What there was, was tasty but there was just not enough of it. Lacking also was the quantity of cheese and the size of the ham slices. The good sized serving of chips were crunchy but were once again covered by the chicken. There was room for both on the plate. The salad was a bit on the small size but had all the necessary ingredients, including a tasty dressing. The beetroot garnish on the parmy was a nice touch.

When we first walked in I nearly walked straight back out again as it was a very dated pub that smelt like stale beer and ciggies. But very glad that we stayed as the parmy was awesome!! I chose the bolognaise topping which tasted great. There were heaps of hot, crunchy chips and the salad was pretty tops as well. Very much recommend the drive out to this country pub.

Don't let first impressions fool you, this place looks like a bit of a dive, but the parmi was definitely one of the better offerings from a country pub that I have sampled in a while. They even had a choice of toppings! I went with the bolognaise, it was rich, cheesy and a good size. Teamed with piping hot, crunchy chips, and a seperate serving of salad, it was worth the trip.
