Hmm, where to start? This pub has a great vibe to it, a lots of pictures of old Fitzroy footy club greats and stills from great movies adorn the walls. The decor is a bit dated, but still in good nick and preserves the character of the pub. With that in mind, I had high hopes for the parma... The parma didn't quite reach the standard provided by the ambience (pun definitely not intended!)... the parma was ok. The parma was a decent size, can't fault it for that. The chicken was also fresh, and tasted good. Where this parma falls down is in the crumbing. I can see where the chefs are heading with the herb crumbing, but unfortunately, it seemed a little undercooked. See pictures. The crumbing could be better cooked next time. The topping was quite good. The cheese was great, and the standout here were the two chunks of fetta cheese baked in. It provided a nice cheesy addition to the topping, without making it more oily. Smart move. The napoli sauce and the prosciutto were good, definitely above average. The parma was served with french fries. They were mostly fine - though some a little overcooked. The quantity of fries were pretty good as well. The salad is where this parma falls down. All I got was lettuce leaves... nothing like the other review from a couple of years back. The salad was a disappointment... it was soggy and I couldn't tell if it was dressed with salad dressing or water. It was priced a little high for $22. It would perhaps be more appropriately priced at $15 - $17. Areas for improvement for the parma would be in the crumbing (cook it a bit more, please... and try getting it a little more crunchy!), and in the salad. Jazz it up a little with other salad ingredients to add more flavour and colour. My personal preference would also be for smaller chunks of fetta, but more of them scattered around the parma, rather than two gigantic chunks.

Fantastic parma! Prosciutto and feta may seem a little unusual, but they are a welcome surprise addition in this case. The size, crumbing and napoli sauce are all faultless, and there's a superb range of beers including the tasty Collingwood Draught to choose from. Only downside (and a minor one at that), when I first went to the Standard last week, the parma (in fact, every meal) came with delicious bread and butter. Second time around, with my trusted sidekick and our fat mate for the purpose of reviewing, no bread. But who am I to complain? Hats off to the Standard. I'll be back.

I've always remembered this parma for it's sauce, it's nothing special by any means but it has noticeably flavour which a nice change to most sauces that just muddle in with everything else. It gets an extra point for using prosciutto instead of ham and having a few cubes of feta melted on top of the cheese.

This was the best Parma I have had this year eaten at once of the nicest pubs I have been to as well . The topping was prociutto and fetta cheese , the chips were golden brown and the salad was just the accompliment its mean't to be . The fillet itseld was thick and juicy . I have given the extra point for the topping . Out of a table of 5 , 3 had the Parma . The other two wished it to be made known that The Standard Burger and Johnnies Sausages were excellent too. This pub is Melbournes best kept secret and the grub in this pub is top notch. The parma dosen't disappoint, the chicken is fresh, thick and juicy and the adding of feta cheese adds a nice touch. A truly first class parma, one of Melbournes Best

saturday afternoon - rad day, rad company, may as well smash a parma!
now, let me firstly explain my minus one point, the wait! the wait for this parma was epic, and considering I was about ready to eat my cock this seemed like a lifetime!!!
eventually a nice looking parma found it's way onto the table in front of me, visually it looked great - chips weren't suffocated by the parma or salad, cheese was melted nicely - but they really let this parma down with the balls (what seemed to be) pizza base sauce?!?
they went to all this effort of having the chicken crumbed in a rad seasoned mix, used prosciutto rather than ham (I should have mentioned this parma was titled the "deluxe parma") and had fetta underneath the normal cheese yet used a crappy pizza base sauce. not good.
fix the sauce issue, and this parma might just be a winner!
The first bite was straight into a piece of schnitzel with no sauce... fantastic! The crumbing of the schnitzel was out of this world, and i'll be looking out for it now in my future parma endeavours. However once I got to a piece of parma with topping, i was disappointed. Luckily there was hardly any topping on the thing, and towards the end I just scraped it off. My companions had no complaints with the taste so consider it just as one person's opinion...

The chicken breast was very good and the crumbing was by far the best I have ever tasted. The rest of the dish however was a bit lacking and on the small side.

The use of Fetta for the cheese blocks on top is interesting, but not my thing.

The feta cheese is a little strange but somehow works. Sauce is pretty good. Too much dressing on the salad..
